Olympics 2012

Gotta love DVR. We are watching last nights prime time and Rayle asks me, Can we watch those guys on the obstacle course? Too funny, yes we can watch mens gymnastics! Love that kid!!!

Just wanted to write this down so I don't forget. Last night at dinner we were eating dessert and Teagan looks over at me with large full of emotion eyes and says really serious, "I am so full I can't eat another bit." Okay more for me I am thinking. Then about two seconds later, he looks at me again and says, "Well maybe just one more bite!" I was cracking up so much, he was so full and serious about his decision to keep eating. What a trooper!!!

Helmets Needed

OH My what a night! Yesterday around dinner time we had a little incident. Rayle decided he didn't feel well and so I told him to lay down and go to bed. AKA go downstairs and start playing video games again. DUH of course lay down and go to bed is the kid translation of go play video games, everyone knows that!!! So we asked Teagan to go get Rayle so that we could discipline him for not listening and making a wrong choice. Rayle has a TEMPER!!! He did not appreciate that he had to come up stairs and stop playing. Rayle started "brotherly bonding" with Teagan, and they came into the living room  where the rest of us were. Not sure exactly but Rayle ended up pulling Teagan off the couch by the legs, and Teagan lost balance and hit his head on the tile floor. Oh dear it was about a two foot drop. We got some ice on his head, and worried about a possible concussion. Rayle went to his room and is not allowed to breath, I mean play video games for the rest of the century. Brian is working nights and of course after he left for work was when the concussion symptoms presented themselves, this was about two hours later. Thankfully Teagan is older and knew he had to throw up, and was not feeling 100%, Ashlyn could not communicate that to us with her concussion earlier this year. I had already put Ashlyn to bed, and I rounded up the kids, got a hold of Brian and set out for the ER. Thankfully a good friend texted me and said she would take Rayle and Ashlyn, but when I got there Ashlyn was in no way wanting to leave me. So I left Rayle and took Ashlyn with me and Teagan. Brian made it to the hospital just before we did. We got them in and checked Teagan in. The doctors asked him some questions and that was weird because you could really tell he was not 100% himself when answering. The C-T scan showed a level one concussion. Thankfully he is not in school, and I can keep him calm. He is not to do any rough housing or sports for two weeks. If he were in school then he would also not be able to do any kind of testing. School starts in a few weeks and he should be fine before then. He seems good this morning, but I am keeping a close eye on him. No more swimming though for the next couple of weeks. Bummer because they all were finally starting to pick it up.

P.S. when we got home I was getting Ashlyn out of the car and she shut the door. My driver door was still open as I needed to get some items out. And BAM she ran right into the door with her head. YES helmets are being ordered for all three. I am also keeping my eyes on her!

4th of July~2012

This year was pretty low key. As in we didn't do much of anything. I searched firework displays and found that the AJ high school would be the best idea. I am glad that we choose to go there because it was a pretty great display. The kids enjoyed the bounce houses while we waited for it to get dark. There was also a band playing. Loved it because they didn't just play one genera of music but did a couple. The show was great, about thirty minutes of fireworks. I also took with me those cheap glow sticks the ones that are $1 at Michaels or Target. The kids loved having a little glow on.

 Teagan and Rayle with Brian
Oh I can't wait of all the kids to be able to focus and look at the camera!!!
Rayle and his large amount of glow sticks.

Ashlyn eating her snack, and sharing with all the others. So nice of her.
 Fireworks.
When we got home we had some fun with some sparklers.
Ashlyn was not too sure about the glowing spitting fire.
Should have turned off the light, oh well. The family with some sparklers, not sure what Rayle was trying to burn. The boys were trying to light every match they could. Darn PIROS!
 Teagan waving his sparklers!
Rayle is lots of emotion. Maybe he was concentrating on not burning down the house?!
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! Happy Independence America!!!

Ashlyn's New Bed

Here are some pictures of Ashlyn's new bed, but first a few of her from last Sunday. I sock curled her hair, and she wanted to wear her headband. She insisted that she wear it like it was pictured. So cute. However once we got out the door she had tossed it aside. I can't wait for her to want to wear ribbons, bows, and headbands for longer than five minutes!!! Also every time I sock curl her hair, people think it is all natural. Love the power of some socks and a night of sleep!!! Oh and LOTS of hair spray. She has fine hair like me.

Please excuse the messy room. The bed has a twin trundle and a full top bunk. Also notice the chair rail and base boards on those two walls pictured. We still need to do the other side. But these got done because of how massive this bed is.
There are 8 small drawers and a desk area.
Also a fun hideout behind, I think she is smuggling all her toys back there!
This is the hideout area. Pretty large area!
I am not 100% happy with the bed and dresser. I think her closet is big enough for a tall boy dresser inside. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open for one in the future. Also we really need to switch her portable AC for a window unit. It takes up the now limited space. Hopefully we can find one on clearance in a couple of months.

Happy USA Shirts

Every year, I ALWAYS get something patriotic or red, white, and blue for us to wear. This year, I thought it would be fun for the kids to create their own shirts. I found a fun way for them to do so on OF COURSE pinterest! HERE It is pretty simple, good quality crayons, a white t-shirt, and some fine sandpaper. I had the crayons and tees so to the Dollar Tree I went for the sandpaper. So project USA tees was a whole DOLLAR! Very fun indeed. I wanted to make Brian and I some as well but we didn't have any plain white tees. Maybe next year!

So the plan had been for the kids to create, but we did run out of time so Teagan was really the only one that "created" his own shirt. I helped by drawing up first what he needed to color. Don't forget that what you draw and color will be opposite. I had to remake Rayles because I did it wrong, forgot to make the letters backwards Ashlyn's was wrong too, but I didn't feel like fixing it so I left it messed up.
 Teagan working hard.
Make sure to really press down hard with the colors so they show up once you iron it on to the shirt.
Place some kind of cardboard between the shirt layer so the colors don't bleed. Then also a piece of paper towel between the sandpaper, and the iron. Iron away and transfer your design.
 Here is Teagan's t-shirt.
Here is Ashlyn's, the blue and stars should be on the other side. Oh well!!!
Here is Rayle's Superman USA inspired tee.
 Looks great!!!
Little face paint adds a nice touch!
 Rayle rocken his tee.

 Teagan in his tee.

My three patriotic kiddos in their homemade USA tees!!!

Set the design in the dryer, then wash separately so colors don't bleed. Should be good after that. So many gift and fun options for this idea! Have fun creating!!!

Rayle's Birthday

So our plans for Rayle's birthday was to set up the water slide, but when we went to set it up on Saturday morning, the slide pretty much just slumped over. So sad as I really didn't have a back up plan. The slide has been in our home for 5 years now, so sad to see it's last adventure not fulfilled. So the kids just played inside for the most part. I found a fun idea again on pinterest where you freeze some toys into water and then use water guns to save them! So I got all the kids together and told them that Mr. Freeze was here and froze up our heros and some villians. The kids took turns and worked to save the heros! It was funny to watch! Idea found here.

Yeah Batman and Green Lantern are safe again!!!
Rayle getting ready for his cake.
This kid will not keep a shirt on, should I be worried???
Someone kept blowing out the candles before I could light them all.

Love that look of determination.
Make a wish!

Rayle had a great day, I felt guilty though because only one friend from his school showed. Darn summer birthday. Next year I will go all out and have it in May. Since he is a middle child he already gets a short stick. I need to make sure he feels extra special next year!
Love you Rayle, I hope you had a wonderful day!
