Hair Today Gone Tomorrow

Well Ashlyn has been in need of a trim for some time now. Her hair gets so tangled and I knew it was time. Well I set up an appointment with a friend and as we were driving I asked her what she wanted. She said I want to cut it short! I really LOVE that girls hair. It's so beautiful!!!! But it is her hair. So I quickly pulled up Pinterest and tossed her my phone. She found a cute bob that she wanted. So when we got to my friends house she pulled her hair into some braids so we could donate the hair. I truly love the cut and I am sure it will be a breeze to take care of but man I can't wait for it to grow back! Ashlyn also mentioned that we now look the same since my hair is shorter too. Okay got to love a girl that wants to be like mommy! Melt my heart sweetie!
She doesn't understand what donating means so she was not amused here. Look at those long locks!!!
Meet my daughter that already acts older, and now looks it even more! Also glad she had pictures recently with her long hair!

Olympic Rings

It's the Olympics so we had to come up with a hair style to show our support. In four years I think I will use ribbons and really make the rings stand out. Well I guess the Winter Games will be here in two years, so we can try again then. Again if her hair was just a tad longer this idea would have been better! What do you think of our Olympic Rings?

 Ashlyn liked her hair!
Five rings the top rings are great, but her bottom rings should be connected too. Just not enough hair!

Braids, Braids, Braids

I am glad that I know how to braid, and also that Ashlyn is willing to sit still while I brain her hair. I have been trying to think of cute braids on my own, but I do get lots of ideas from a great blog found here. Ashlyn's hair is long enough that I can start to do more intricate braids, but I have noticed that I wish it was a few inches longer some times. I am sure we will get there soon, as her hair grows pretty fast. Here is a style I have done a few times in her hair.
 Here is the front.
I spilt the hair down the middle and french braided both sides. Then about 1/3 of the way the back half of hair was separated and I held it waiting. I finished up the two french braids and braided the entire section of hair. I then french braided the bottom half, and I added the finished braids into the hair as well.
A little off to the left side, but oh well. I did this style for church and it looked much better the second time around. I had also started the bottom french braid a little higher up and it looked a lot cleaner. Also it is hard to hide the bands, if her hair were longer I would not bind the braid but add it all together into the bottom french braid.

Ashlyn's New Bed

Here are some pictures of Ashlyn's new bed, but first a few of her from last Sunday. I sock curled her hair, and she wanted to wear her headband. She insisted that she wear it like it was pictured. So cute. However once we got out the door she had tossed it aside. I can't wait for her to want to wear ribbons, bows, and headbands for longer than five minutes!!! Also every time I sock curl her hair, people think it is all natural. Love the power of some socks and a night of sleep!!! Oh and LOTS of hair spray. She has fine hair like me.

Please excuse the messy room. The bed has a twin trundle and a full top bunk. Also notice the chair rail and base boards on those two walls pictured. We still need to do the other side. But these got done because of how massive this bed is.
There are 8 small drawers and a desk area.
Also a fun hideout behind, I think she is smuggling all her toys back there!
This is the hideout area. Pretty large area!
I am not 100% happy with the bed and dresser. I think her closet is big enough for a tall boy dresser inside. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open for one in the future. Also we really need to switch her portable AC for a window unit. It takes up the now limited space. Hopefully we can find one on clearance in a couple of months.

Hair Styles of the Rich and the Famous

Okay well at least hair styles for Ashlyn! One day she might be rich and famous!!! I love all her HAIR!!!! Seriously so glad she has it! It's fun to think up or find new hair styles to try out on her. It is a must to pull her hair back, because when she eats she does not care if her hair falls in her face, and then she has a nice little snack for later right there all in her hair! YUCK!!! This first style I found HERE. For Ashlyn's I did it in three and I guess had I made the sections a little smaller I could have done four. So cute though and EASY!!!
SMILE! So hard to get a good real smile. She does not hold still for long!
 Back of her hair!
 A close view!

For this next style she wore it to church and I have done the bangs french braided before, but generally I will braid the entire bang area to one side. This time I choose to part it and braid down each side and then I pulled them back into a pony. Her hair needs to be just a tab longer because you could see the hair bands. I seriously LOVED this look on her.
I also wish I had braided pulling back so it looked more natural when in the pony. Oh well.
Parted to the side, then french braided just the bang area.
 Other side view.
Close up after church while she was eating. She did not want any more pictures! She must be getting ready for the rich and the famous!!! ;)
Love all the styles and braids out there right now. It is seriously too much fun. Now if only Ashlyn had my excitement! She tolerates me doing her hair, but if I could do it EVERYDAY that would be wonderful!

What an ANGEL

Okay maybe just her hair, as she has been MADAME DESTRUCTO lately! These pictures honestly don't do the actual style justice. I wish I would have taken more pictures of her hair, but we were trying to get out to church. I started the french braid just above her right ear. I braided in a diagonal across her head. I wanted to do a bun with the tail of the braid, but it was not long enough. I just tucked it under and bob-pinned it. Then the few wisps of hair that hung out I curled with a tiny curling iron. She really did look beautiful!!! I will totally do this style on her again!!!
She hates posing for pictures sometimes. No smile!

Side view where I started the braid.

I was thinking about cutting her hair and donating it, but honestly I LOVE being able to braid and do her hair in fun ways. I am torn!!!

First Crack at the Lace Braid

Now with being a mom of two boys before Miss Ashlyn came along I have not really done lots of hair styles. I can Mohawk and spike a hair like no other! But I am rusty on my braiding skills. Ashlyn's hair is getting longer very day so now I can break out my braiding skills and practice on our little girl! Also with the internet there are TONS of ideas for fabulous styles. With Valentine's day around the corner, how about a lace braid that mimics a heart! <3!!!
